Tasman Mako's visit Renwick School

2024 South Island School’s cyclocross Championships

It was great to see our students compete in the 2024 South Island School’s cyclocross Championships.  We had three students represent Renwick School, Tom F, Ollie B and Sam M. The boys were placed 3rd in the U16 relay event.  The boys each took turns to ride a lap and then pass their timing chip to the next. Cross Country 2024

What a stunning day of athleticism, whanau support and sunshine we had to celebrate our 2024 cross country day.The frost quickly thawed from the heat of the sun which stayed with us all day making the day a huge success.  The wonderfully decorated cupcakes, hot sizzling sausages and coffee made the ambience even more attractive as we watched and acknowledged our students.I was very proud of the students who challenged themselves by entering in the competitive race.  Running is not for ...

Tuatahi & Whanake welcome whanau to join in with folk dancing

Our NE - Y2 students have been introduced and practicing folk dancing.  They extended an invitation to families to join in and see what they have learnt.  We had an incredible turn out of family members and it was so good to see so many who joined in.Some times the great things of the past still work today.Thanks to the staff team for the invitation and all the support you've given the students....

Matariki 2024

What an incredible day of learning, celebrating, remembering and acknowledging as our school and families celebrated Matariki.Our day started at Rarangi beach with Kapa Haka group performing for us, time to sit and view the morning sky, time to gather and remember the past and plan for the future.  We then returned to school for a yummy cooked breakfast.  A huge thank you to Jeff & Sharee Luttrell, franchise managers of The Local Butcher, Riverlands, who kindly donated the sausages...

International Language week

Rm 18, 16 and 5 were lucky to have a Dutch lesson last week, as part of International Languages Week. Sophie Bonarius, parent, kindly came in and talked to the classes about what it is like to learn a new language, and the benefits of it. She had made a powerpoint to share with the classes, which was really interactive, including learning the alphabet and some songs. FORs and Menz Shed provide for our students.

New Zealand String Symphony Orchestra

Hockey at the new turf

I went and saw our senior team play at the new turf.  What an incredible resource it is for all.  Jack K got to trial the new 'goalie gear' admittedly as Jack was filling in for players away, it did seem a little too big.Thanks to the coach, Mr Benseman and parents for the help with the team.  All the best for the rest of the season....

Pink Shirt Day

What a great 'PINK' day we had recognising the importance of Pink Shirt Day.  I definitely noticed more students and staff choosing to dress in pink to show their support for the day.  Well done to all classes taking time to dress-up their classroom as well.  Thanks to the School Council for providing pancakes for us with the proceeds also going to support Pink Shirt Day.Welll done to the students who won the colouring competition....

Scooter track fun

The hard work of the planning group, GreenFerns, has finally come to fruition, our scooter track is ready for action.  Today we welcomed students who were definitely physically active as they navigated their way around the corners and bumps growing confidence.  It was great to see the manaakitanga, showing kindness and respect to others, as students of different ages negotiated the new track.GreenFerns are now looking at signs, plants and other ways to transform our new area...

Launch of our new school values

Thursday 28 March Renwick School welcomed 60 personnel from Omaka Airforce to join us to launch one of many different activities that demonstrates our school values: respectful, resilience and resourceful.Within minutes we saw authentic engagement with our tamariki as the two groups worked together for a morning of fun.Respect was shown as our tamariki reached out to involve our visitors in the different activities where we saw collaboration between the two groups.  We also saw and heard re...

Kaikoura camp - Room 20 & 21

What a great experience the students of Room 20 & 21 had when on camp in Kaikoura.  They ventured down the coastline, exploring and learning facts from the past and then took part in a powhiri at Takahanga Marae where they stayed. Second day they group chose between experiencing the new zip-line or mini-golf and Escape Room. The zip-line was clearly a real favourite. Cricket Festival

What a great day the Renwick students had at the Marlborough cricket festival.  The Renwick Strikers went through the day undefeated after 5 games and the Renwick Scorchers won one of their games and showed massive improvement from the start to the end of the day.  The students demonstrated respect to themselves and others, resilience as they dug deep as a team and came home with new skills to add to their kete of resources.A huge thank you to our parents, Stephen Crawford and Lu Ferre...

Renwick School choir performs for community

An enthusiastic group of Renwick School students performed beautifully for local community group today.  The smiles and the tapping of toes from the audience was a true sign of appreciation and enjoyment the school choir brought to the performance.  There was also a special visit from Elvis which stole the show for a bit!Well done to the students and a big, big thank you to Racheal and Ainsley for all your dedication and hard work....

Y8's exploring Abel Tasman

Ki - O - Rahi tournament, 2023

We had three teams travel to Redwoodtown School to compete against other schools in Ki-O-Rahi.  Ki-O-Rahi is a game based on a legend.  The rules of the game: A  team game played between 2 teams, kioma and taniwha on a large circular field. Played for 2 halves of a set time, teams alternate roles of Kīoma and Taniwha at half or quarter time.Kīoma score by touching Pou/s with the Kī (for potential points) then running the Kī through Te Roto and placing it down in...

Rugby League tournament - Nelson
