Special Education

Renwick School has a great culture of inclusiveness ensuring that students with special educational needs are included in all school activities as well as receiving targeted programmes to assist with their learning and growth. Our teacher aides are skilled in assisting with the running of specialist programmes to guide the learning of students. We have a PMP programme in Team One that is run by a skilled Occupational therapist. Those students identified as needing further work are given 1:1 help with our OT.

Our Special Education Committee provides links to numerous outside agencies ˆ RTLB service, CAMHS, ESOL, GSE, and Speech Language therapy. We meet on a regular basis assessing on going needs and facilitating the necessary referrals. ORRS students are supported by a specialist teacher based at our school, as well as their own teacher’s aide. The specialist teacher also provides expert ESOL teaching, and literacy and numeracy teaching for those identified as needing extra help.

At Renwick we pride ourselves in providing quality programmes to suit individual needs of students.
