Special Abilities
Renwick School believe that children deserve the right to have their knowledge, skills and attitudes recognised and extended so as to maximise their potential as future citizens.
In-class provisions cater for all children in each curriculum area. Teachers do this by using ability groupings, flexible social learning, small group or independent study, higher order thinking skills, learning centres, learning contracts and individual learning programmes.
The Renwick Accelerated Programme (RAP) has been developed to ensure students are involved in a variety of extension programmes to enhance class room programmes to suit their needs. Children chosen to participate in RAP will exhibit a range of skills and aptitudes specifically identified through testing and teacher judgement.
This year a group of children from Year 1 to Year 8, are creating a movie to link in with the school’s 150th Jubilee.
We envisage that each year different groups of children will be involved in a range of programmes which will extend their individual abilities in many ways.
