    RENWICK SCHOOL
POLICY TITLE:  Dress and Personal Presentation for Students

Rationale

Students are required to take an active and full part in the school programme at all times.  These guidelines set out clearly what the rules are for dress and personal presentation standards at school and when students are representing the school eg: sports teams.

Purpose

1 To ensure students wear appropriate clothing and footwear to school.

2 To ensure no article that compromises student safety is worn to school.

3 To promote pride in students appearance

4  To promote and enforce fair standards of dress and personal presentation for all
       students.

Broad Guidelines

Clothing must be appropriate for school to enable students to take a full part in outdoor, sports and PE as well as indoor activities.  Shorts, polo shirts and sweatshirts are ideal for school for all students with a winter option of tracksuit pants.
The following clothing items are not acceptable at school.
Strap tops  (are not appropriate and are not sunsmart.)
Clothing that restricts movement

Jewellery is not to be worn to school.
Earrings (studs only) - Are limited to one earring per pierced ear lobe.

Make Up is not to be worn to school. This includes nail polish.

Hair will be kept tidy and in a way that doesn’t inhibit the students ability to take a full part in the school programme.  Long hair must be tied up for Yr 7/8 Technology and where safety or work standards are compromised.

Hats

Hats must be worn at school during breaks and sports/PE times during Term 1 and Term 4.

The school reserves the right to ask students to remove items of jewellery and hold them for taking home after school, wash out any additives to their hair and send any student home to change that arrives in gear clearly unsuitable or unacceptable for school.

Conclusion

All students will take a full and active part in every aspect of the school programme.  Common sense must prevail and our students must abide by the standards set by the school.
